Millions Participate in Ashura Commemorations in Karbala, Iraq

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the holy city of Karbala in Iraq was the scene of millions of people gathering to commemorate the anniversary of Ashura. The event, reported by Mehr News Agency, citing Al-Iraqiya, saw a significant presence of citizens participating in the solemn occasion.
Religious delegations and participants observed traditional mourning rituals for the “Master and Savior of the Martyrs,” including the “Tuwayrij” ceremony. This ceremony is recognized as one of the oldest and most authentic ritualistic mourning practices in Iraq, particularly in Karbala, drawing tens of thousands of attendees.
Following the midday and afternoon prayers, participants reenacted scenes related to the captive women and children of the Karbala incident. They then ran for several kilometers towards the holy shrines of Hazrat Abolfazl al-Abbas and Imam Hussein (peace be upon them).
The Karbala Governorate had arranged stringent security and service measures to welcome the millions of pilgrims from both within Iraq and abroad for this significant ceremony.
