Lebanese President Welcomes Israel Framework Deal as First Step to Reclaiming Liberated Territories

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Lebanese presidency has welcomed a framework agreement with the Israeli regime, asserting it represents the first step in the return of Lebanese citizens to liberated territories and their reconstructed homes under the sovereignty of the Lebanese government. The presidency further claimed that this agreement marks the initial stride toward Lebanon fully regaining its sovereignty without any diminishment.
President Aoun extended his appreciation to the U.S. government and President Donald Trump for hosting the negotiations between Lebanon and Israel, and for what he described as their “support for Lebanon’s positions.” He also conveyed thanks to friendly and brotherly nations that backed Beirut’s stance throughout the negotiation process.
These statements from President Aoun come shortly after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated, following the signing of the framework agreement, that “we will not allow people to return to southern Lebanon.”
