Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri Warns of Sedition Amidst Agreement with Israel

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Nabih Berri, the Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament, has sounded a grave alarm regarding the specter of sedition within the country. In a brief statement addressed to all Lebanese people, Berri declared, “O people of Lebanon, all of Lebanon; this is sedition.”
He invoked the profound words of Imam Ali (AS) from Nahj al-Balagha, quoting, “In times of sedition, be like a young camel that has neither a udder to be milked nor a back to be ridden.” This poignant analogy emphasizes the need to remain inaccessible and unexploitable by those who seek to sow discord.
The Speaker further elucidated that this directive implies an absolute refusal to be utilized by instigators of sedition, preventing them from exploiting individuals in any manner, whether by “riding” or “milking” them, stressing the paramount importance of vigilance.
In his statement, the Lebanese Parliament Speaker cautioned about the unfolding circumstances and the potential repercussions of the recent agreement, without providing further specifics. Lebanon and the Israeli regime reached a framework for a future agreement on Friday, following five rounds of negotiations and four days of deliberations in Washington, mediated by the United States.
