Lebanese President Calls on US to Pressure Israel for Withdrawal from Southern Lebanon

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun spoke with U.S. President Donald Trump via telephone following the signing of a framework agreement, according to data published by Mehr News Agency, citing Al Jazeera network.
The Lebanese presidency announced that during the conversation, Aoun emphasized that the Lebanese government would assume responsibility for implementing the terms of the agreement.
Aoun expressed his hope that the United States would play a role in preventing any violation of the agreement and ensuring the full implementation of commitments.
In the call, Aoun requested that Washington pressure Israel to withdraw from the occupied territories in southern Lebanon.
The Lebanese presidency further stated that Aoun also expressed his gratitude to Trump for his support of Lebanon, the rule of law, and the country’s constitutional and security institutions.
The Lebanese institution added that during the phone call, Trump informed Aoun that the United States would support Lebanon’s economy and its legitimate security forces.
Trump claimed that the U.S. would spare no effort in supporting Lebanon’s sovereignty and expanding the government’s authority through its armed forces.
