France Sets Presidential Election for April-May 2027

France’s next presidential election has been scheduled to take place between April 18 and May 2, 2027, according to a source within the Élysée Palace. This timeline aligns with constitutional requirements as President Emmanuel Macron began his second term in May 2022.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, a source in the French presidential office announced that the next presidential election in France will be held between April 18 and May 2, 2027. This announcement is expected to be officially made during a cabinet meeting on Wednesday.

The far-right National Rally party, led by Marine Le Pen, views the upcoming presidential election as its strongest opportunity to gain power. Multiple polls suggest that the far-right could lead in the first round of the 2027 election, although the party’s candidate has not yet been confirmed.

Under the French constitution, elections must occur between 20 and 35 days before the end of the incumbent president’s five-year term. Emmanuel Macron commenced his second term on May 14, 2022. Consequently, the election will take place during the spring holidays, with the second round scheduled for the day after Labor Day.
