Israel Approves Plan for 13 New Settlements in West Bank, Raising Concerns of Fragmentation

The Israeli occupation regime has approved a plan to establish 13 new settlements in the central West Bank, a move that Palestinian officials warn will fragment the territory and isolate Jerusalem.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Israel has approved a plan to construct 13 new settlements in the occupied West Bank, with the Governorate of Jerusalem issuing a warning about the repercussions of this action on fragmenting the West Bank and isolating Jerusalem. Based on data published by the Mehr News Agency, citing Al Jazeera, the Israeli occupation regime approved the plan.

Channel 7 of the Israeli regime’s television reported that the settlement construction plan will be implemented in the “Binyamin” region, with the first phase involving the establishment of four to six new settlements, commencing in the coming months with a budget in the millions of shekels.

Meanwhile, the Governorate of Jerusalem, in a strongly condemning statement, announced: “This plan is part of a broader project to impose new geographical realities, sever geographical connections between Palestinian cities, and ultimately completely detach occupied Jerusalem from its surrounding environment.”

The Palestinian entity clarified: “The acceleration of illegal construction is linked to internal political equations and the proximity of Knesset elections, and it constitutes a clear violation of international laws.”

This source added: “Research statistics indicate that the pace of settlement establishment has seen an unprecedented surge in recent years, increasing from an average of eight plans per year to dozens of cases annually, with the aim of completely destroying the idea of establishing an independent Palestinian state.”
