Egyptian President Sisi: Just Peace Deal is Root Solution for Middle East Issues

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi has asserted that border security for Egypt is a red line, and the nation has navigated a series of exceptional crises. These challenges have ranged from the aftermath of events in Egypt between 2011 and 2014, the fight against terrorism, and the COVID-19 pandemic, to the repercussions of the Ukraine war, the conflict in Gaza, and more recently, the conflict involving Iran.
President Sisi emphasized that these crises have resulted in substantial losses, citing over $10 billion in lost Suez Canal revenues due to attacks on vessels in the Bab el-Mandeb strait. This situation, he noted, occurred concurrently with rising energy and food prices, disruptions in supply chains, and the influx of millions of refugees into Egypt, a country that has consistently served and will continue to serve as a secure and stable haven amidst regional turmoil.
Despite these adversities, the Egyptian President stated that Egypt has undertaken tireless efforts to halt conflicts and de-escalate tensions, striving to prevent bloodshed. He expressed gratitude to U.S. President Donald Trump for his endeavors, which led to the Sharm el-Sheikh agreement to cease hostilities in Gaza, and subsequently, a successful ceasefire agreement with Iran. President Sisi underscored the importance of supporting these agreements, insisting on their full implementation, and preventing any attempts to undermine, circumvent, or weaken them.
Drawing on Egypt’s profound understanding and unparalleled historical experience in regional affairs, and as the first nation to sign a peace treaty with Israel during intense animosity, President Sisi reiterated that the fundamental solution to the Middle East’s problems lies in achieving a comprehensive and just peace agreement. Such a peace, he believes, would fulfill the Palestinian aspiration by establishing an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, based on international resolutions.
He further elaborated that lasting peace, genuine stability, and normalization of relations among peoples cannot be achieved without a just peace. This peace, he stated, must end occupation, cease oppression and aggression, restore rights, guarantee security for all, and offer the region’s nations the opportunity to live in stability and prosperity. It should usher in a new era of cooperation, flourishing, and a better future that the peoples of the region deserve.
In a separate statement, President Sisi touched upon cooperation with Russia, announcing that the installation of the reactor pressure vessel for the second unit of the El Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant will commence within the next few days. He extended his thanks to Russian President Vladimir Putin for continuous strategic cooperation.
