Muktada al-Sadr Welcomes Mourners to Martyr Leader’s Funeral in Iraq

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Muktada al-Sadr, the head of the Sadrist Movement in Iraq, issued a statement welcoming pilgrims of Aba Abdillah Al-Hussein (peace be upon him) during the Arbaeen ceremonies and participants in the funeral procession of the “martyred leader” and a “martyr of the path of jihad.” Al-Sadr added that he prays for the health and safety of all attendees.

Previously, Al Jazeera network noted the preparations in the holy cities to receive the body of the “martyred leader of the Islamic Revolution of Iran.” The network reported that routes leading to the city of Najaf Al-Ashraf were not like normal days, with black flags raised over buildings, expanded checkpoints, and round-the-clock service vehicles. Security units were observed on the streets, preparing for a day expected to see millions of mourners. Al Jazeera further stated that while Najaf and Karbala are accustomed to hosting millions of pilgrims, particularly during Muharram, Safar, Rajab, and Sha’ban, the funeral procession for Ayatollah Khamenei is anticipated to be one of the largest population management operations.
