Somali Army Eliminates Key Al-Shabaab Leader and Six Fighters

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Somali Ministry of Defense reported that an operation conducted by the country’s army in the Lower Shabelle region resulted in the death of one of the leaders of the Al-Shabaab terrorist group, along with six other members. Their positions were also destroyed.
A statement from the ministry indicated that the operation targeted a location where Al-Shabaab members had gathered and were preparing for an attack. The statement further emphasized that operations against the group’s leaders, forces, and infrastructure will continue across the country until national security is fully established.
The Al-Shabaab terrorist group has been conducting attacks against the Somali government and international peacekeeping forces since 2006. Since 2022, the Somali army, with the support of international partners, has launched extensive operations against the group in the central and southern regions of the country.
