Pakistan Urges U.S. and Iran to Adhere to Islamabad Accord Amid Regional Tensions

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Pakistan‘s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Muhammad Ishaq Dar, has stressed the importance of adherence to the commitments outlined in the “Islamabad Accord” between Tehran and Washington. During a phone conversation with Kuwait’s Foreign Minister, Sheikh Jarrāḥ Jaber Al-Aḥmad Al-Sabah, Dar called for de-escalation of tensions in West Asia.
The Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that both ministers discussed the latest regional developments. Kuwait’s Foreign Minister expressed his country’s serious concerns and hoped that “all parties would exercise restraint and the Islamabad Accord would be fully implemented.” The ministry also noted that the Kuwaiti Foreign Minister lauded Pakistan’s constructive role in promoting dialogue and regional stability.
The Pakistani Foreign Ministry further stated that Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Dar highlighted the urgent necessity of reducing tensions, respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all nations, and prioritizing the preservation of regional peace and security. He underscored the significance of upholding the ceasefire commitments between Tehran and Washington under the Islamabad Accord and avoiding any actions that could further intensify tensions.
This call comes in the wake of recent U.S. incursions and scattered attacks on Iranian territory, which occurred amidst indirect negotiations between Tehran and Washington. These events, according to the source, have demonstrated to the world that Washington is not genuinely pursuing dialogue.
