CBS: Iran Conflict Costs Far Exceed Pentagon’s Claims, Analysts Say
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, CBS News has reported that the claim by U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hagest, stating the cost of a war with Iran would be $37.5 billion, is unrealistic.
The report indicates that the expenses of engaging in conflict with Iran would far surpass Hagest’s figures, as his calculations reportedly omit essential costs such as reconstruction of damaged bases.
Earlier, the U.S. Secretary of Defense reiterated the Trump administration’s policy of “peace through strength,” urging the swift approval of supplementary funding for the Pentagon. He asserted that this additional budget request is an immediate necessity to meet the current needs of the armed forces. This supplementary budget is not intended to replace the Trump administration’s previous $1.5 trillion budget request but is being sought in conjunction with it to address urgent Pentagon requirements.
The Secretary of Defense claimed that the cost of war against Iran has reached $37.5 billion to date. It is important to note that bellicose actions against Iran not only incur staggering costs for the United States but also place considerable pressure on the global economy.
