Israel Invests Millions in AI Influence Campaign for Gaza War Narrative
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, a report published by Drop of Site News, citing Anatolia, reveals that the Israeli regime has allocated tens of millions of dollars for a digital infiltration campaign designed to influence the responses of artificial intelligence systems regarding the war in Gaza.
Drop of Site reports that a network of pro-Israel websites has been established to shape the answers generated by major AI chatbots, utilizing search indexing and training data. Former Donald Trump campaign manager Brad Parscale and his company, Clocktower X, are said to have built this network of websites under a $46.5 million contract with the Israeli regime. The objective is to promote Israeli narratives and impact AI platforms including ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Perplexity.
Documents cited by Drop of Site indicate that Clocktower X has produced hundreds of articles across multiple websites covering the Gaza war, Israeli military operations, and the U.S.-Israel relationship. This campaign has influenced the outputs of large language models by creating content optimized for search engine indexing and incorporation into AI systems, a practice sometimes referred to as ‘model poisoning’.
Some of the websites promoted a closer U.S.-Israel military partnership, defended Israel’s military campaign in Gaza, challenged accusations against its conduct, and presented pro-Israel viewpoints. Drop of Site noted that some AI systems have already referenced these websites.
The content from this network has reportedly entered the training datasets of AI through a vast web archive utilized by large language model developers. According to sources, these websites provide an Israeli narrative that chatbots can then echo as representative of one side of a discussion. The report also highlights that public support for Israel in the United States has significantly declined since the commencement of the Gaza war, which has resulted in the deaths of over 73,000 Palestinians, even among traditionally strong Israeli supporters like conservatives and evangelical Christians.
