Lebanese President: Two Options for Lebanon, Israel Will Not Achieve Goals Through Force

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun stated that the nation faces a choice between war and diplomacy, emphasizing that Israel cannot achieve its objectives through military might. He also highlighted Lebanon’s support for relations with Iran based on mutual respect.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun announced that Lebanon has two distinct paths forward: war or diplomacy, with no other alternatives. He asserted that Israel is not advancing its agenda effectively through force and that Tel Aviv’s tactical approach overlooks strategic considerations. Aoun emphasized that a widespread military response by Israel and the killing of innocent civilians would not benefit Lebanon or the United States, reiterating that Israel will never succeed in achieving its aims by resorting to coercion.

President Aoun also addressed Lebanon’s potential engagement with Iran, stating that Lebanon supports establishing state-to-state relations with Iran, predicated on mutual respect and non-interference in internal affairs. He further underscored the significant importance of Lebanon to the United States and its interests, asserting that regional stability is intrinsically linked to stability within Lebanon and the support of its army.

Earlier, the Lebanese President indicated that Lebanon does not intend to withdraw from the implementation of a framework agreement with Israel and is actively working to strengthen it, seeking progress and breakthroughs in several key areas. He specified that advancements are being sought in negotiations concerning prisoners, borders, the buffer zone, and the ceasefire with Israel.
