Al Jazeera: Doubts Persist Over Economic Pressure’s Impact on Iran Amidst US Sanction Demands

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Ehab Al-Absi, a correspondent for Al Jazeera in Washington, emphasized that the United States government has escalated its demands concerning sanctions against Iran, hoping that a maritime blockade, coupled with economic pressure, will compel Tehran to accept a new agreement.
He further stated that there are prevailing doubts within the United States regarding the extent to which these policies will be impactful, especially considering Iran’s established economic relationship with China, its largest trading partner and the primary importer of its oil.
The Al Jazeera correspondent clarified that questions have arisen in the United States concerning whether these sanctions will also encompass Chinese financial institutions.
Previously, the newspaper Rai Al-Youm had reported on this matter, noting that Iran possesses nearly five decades of experience in confronting sanctions. Through its economic relations with China and Russia, and by utilizing alternative financial and trade networks, Iran can potentially neutralize a portion of these pressures. Sanctions may also lead to increased global costs, particularly impacting the energy market and the Strait of Hormuz.
