Iranian and Egyptian Foreign Ministers Discuss Regional Developments and De-escalation Efforts

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi engaged in a telephone dialogue to review the current regional situation and ongoing efforts to reduce tensions. The discussion focused on facilitating the necessary conditions for de-escalation and a return to diplomatic processes, including ongoing negotiations between Oman and Iran, and the potential resumption of the memorandum of understanding signed between the United States and Iran on June 18, 2026. The aim of these diplomatic efforts is to reach a comprehensive and stable agreement that addresses various concerns and strengthens regional security and stability.
Minister Shoukry underscored the critical importance of intensifying current diplomatic efforts and initiatives to lower existing tensions and achieve peaceful understandings that can contribute to restoring security and stability to the region. He also highlighted the paramount significance of ensuring the freedom of international navigation and maritime traffic, respecting the security and stability of countries in the Persian Gulf, and safeguarding the interests of all nations in the region.
During the conversation, Minister Shoukry also listened to his Iranian counterpart’s perspectives on current developments, the progress of negotiations, and the challenges faced.
