Canada Implements Retaliatory Tariffs on U.S. Imports

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Canada has confirmed that retaliatory customs tariffs designated for imports from the United States will be implemented starting Tuesday. These tariffs are set to reach up to 50 percent on American goods valued at approximately 27.6 billion Canadian dollars (20 billion U.S. dollars). The affected products include steel and aluminum, home appliances, agricultural equipment, wood pulp and paper products, and electronics.

This development occurs in the wake of failed trade negotiations between Washington and Ottawa. Last month, the United States imposed tariffs of up to 50 percent on Canadian products worth $20 billion, encompassing items such as hockey sticks, furniture, honey, and alcoholic beverages. This action prompted Canada to announce its decision to implement retaliatory tariffs.

Earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump had urged all Canadian companies engaging with the United States to immediately relocate their operations to American soil, emphasizing that these companies would be exempt from customs duties upon their return.
