Iraq to Participate in Oman Summit on Strait of Hormuz

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Iraq‘s Foreign Minister, Fuad Hussein, stated on Saturday night that Baghdad’s emphasis is on supporting and attending the upcoming summit in the Sultanate of Oman concerning the Strait of Hormuz.

Hussein added that the resolution of regional crises, including the situation in Yemen, should be pursued through dialogue, negotiations, and de-escalation.

During his remarks, the Iraqi Foreign Minister also discussed his talks with his Iranian counterpart. He noted that he exchanged views with the Foreign Minister of Iran regarding measures related to certain border crossings and how to address them.

He further stated that during this conversation, he also reviewed the issue of the attack on Saudi Arabia and the progress of the joint investigation committee concerning that attack with Seyed Abbas Araghchi.

A summit among the littoral states of the Persian Gulf is scheduled to be held in Muscat, Oman.

In this regard, Ismail Baqaei, Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran, commented on the meeting of the foreign ministers of the Persian Gulf littoral states, saying, “Currently, planning for the holding of this summit on Monday has been completed, and the foreign ministers of the Persian Gulf littoral states will be present.”

He added, “One of the agenda items for this summit will be to elaborate on the efforts of Iran and Oman to reach an understanding on temporary shipping routes in the Strait of Hormuz.”

The Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran emphasized, “The outcomes of the negotiations between Iran and Oman will be communicated to the foreign ministers of the Persian Gulf littoral states at this summit.”
