Iraqi Official Warns of Internal Plots to Revive ISIS

A former Iraqi representative has warned of internal movements within Iraq aimed at expelling Hashd al-Shaabi forces from areas bordering the Kurdistan Region, potentially to facilitate the resurgence of ISIS. These alleged maneuvers seek to create instability and leverage terrorist elements for geopolitical aims.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, a former Iraqi representative has raised alarms regarding internal machinations within Iraq designed to push Hashd al-Shaabi forces out of territories adjacent to the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. These efforts, according to Jassim Al-Bayyati, aim to displace these popular mobilization units from areas stretching from Tal Afar to Khanaqin.

Al-Bayyati stated that these specific currents are actively seeking the removal of Hashd al-Shaabi from these strategic locations, noting a pattern of repeated and overt attacks targeting the forces in these aforementioned regions. He elaborated that these groups are exploiting the presence and activities of ISIS terrorist formations, with the ultimate objective of reviving the terror group.

The former representative asserted that the revival of ISIS is intended to destabilize the security situation in the areas bordering the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. He further indicated that the shared borders with Syria have become a conduit for supporting terrorists, with ISIS elements actively operating within these zones.
