UN Human Rights Chief Demands Full Access to Gaza Amid War Crimes Concerns

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Turk stated that the discovery of extensive human remains, largely comprising women and children, from beneath the rubble of devastated buildings in Gaza has heightened concerns about the potential for war crimes. The UN Human Rights Office reported that Palestinian Civil Defense has so far recovered over 630 bodies and human remains from the debris of destroyed structures and estimates the number of missing persons trapped under the rubble to be more than 8,000.

Turk urged for the documentation and identification of victims, the preservation of forensic evidence and biological samples, and the notification of families. He emphasized that international investigators must be granted access to all regions of Gaza. The ongoing conflict initiated by the Israeli regime against Gaza has, according to the Gaza Ministry of Health, resulted in the deaths of over 73,000 Palestinians.
