Qatar Advocates Dialogue to Resolve Strait of Hormuz Crisis, Warns Against Escalation

The ministry underscored the importance of freedom of navigation in the Strait and affirmed ongoing collaboration with partners to find a resolution to this critical issue. Closing vital waterways was deemed unacceptable, and the global community must unite to prevent the catastrophic consequences of such blockades.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the solution to the regional crisis lies not in intensifying military conflict, but in returning to dialogue and negotiation. It further indicated that efforts are continuing and will not cease, given that the crisis in the Strait of Hormuz impacts the entire world.
The statement detailed that the State of Qatar is cooperating with its partners to advance discussions on maritime security in the Strait of Hormuz. Qatar is earnestly working with its regional and international partners to build a consensus on the Strait of Hormuz, supporting the attainment of an agreement and the convergence of parties on a viable solution. Disruptions to shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and the Bab al-Mandab would have disastrous repercussions for the globe.
The Ministry added that Qatar is actively pursuing diplomacy, dialogue, and the peaceful resolution of this conflict. The world has suffered enough from the closure of the Strait of Hormuz and cannot afford to add the Bab al-Mandab to this crisis. The international community must stand united in the face of potential closures of international waterways.
