Netanyahu’s Flight Diverted to US Military Base Amid Security Concerns

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Israeli security services have decided not to land Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu‘s plane at John F. Kennedy Airport in New York during his trip to participate in the UN General Assembly meetings. The decision was made due to security worries, as there were fears that permission for Netanyahu’s aircraft to be stationed at the airport during his visit might not be granted, a privilege previously extended to Israeli officials. This is according to Yedioth Ahronoth, as reported by the Mehr News Agency.

The report indicates that Netanyahu’s aircraft is now scheduled to land at Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey or a nearby military airport. Netanyahu is set to arrive in the United States on Wednesday and will deliver a speech at the United Nations General Assembly on Thursday. The U.S. Secret Service has intensified its security measures for Netanyahu, with agents expected to accompany him from his arrival until his departure from the U.S.

Additionally, it is anticipated that Netanyahu’s visit will be met with protests outside his hotel and during his speech at the UN. While New York City Mayor Eric Adams had previously stated efforts would be made to arrest Netanyahu if he visited New York, he later clarified that he did not possess the necessary authority for such actions.
