Trump Welcomes Meeting with Iranian President, Cites Economic Woes

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, U.S. President Donald Trump stated on Sunday during an interview with Fox News that he is open to the idea of meeting with the President of Iran on the sidelines of the upcoming United Nations General Assembly. The president also touched upon economic issues within the United States, suggesting that significant events are on the horizon.

Trump, facing the prospect of midterm election losses for his Republican party, attempted to explain some of the nation’s economic setbacks. He outlined three potential options regarding Iran: complete annihilation, allowing it to collapse economically, or reaching an agreement. He stated that the options currently on the table are “complete annihilation of Iran, leaving it to economic collapse, or reaching an agreement.”

Following a pattern of aggressive rhetoric followed by de-escalation, Trump asserted, “They better behave.” He then added, “I welcome the idea of meeting with the President of Iran on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly this week.”

The U.S. President also claimed that finding an Iranian official capable of reaching an agreement is impossible, without referencing any violations of agreements between Tehran and Washington.

Regarding the broader regional situation, Trump remarked that the situation in the Middle East (West Asia) this week is no different from other weeks, despite warnings issued to U.S. citizens in the region. He also claimed that the United States is in constant contact with the Houthis and that they have agreed not to engage in conflict with the U.S.
