The American media outlets CNN, MSNC, and Politico filed a lawsuit in federal court in Washington on Monday, challenging the government’s decision to ban their reporters from entering the White House. The news organizations argue that the revocation of press credentials and the denial of entry violate their First Amendment rights under the U.S. Constitution.
The three media groups further contend that their access was restricted without prior notice or due process, allegedly in response to their reporting. They are seeking a court order to lift the ban.
President Donald Trump has previously accused these outlets of publishing “fake news” and “lies,” stating that the ban was imposed due to their collective reporting.
