Russia Claims Capture of Settlements in Kharkiv and Sumy Regions
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Russian Ministry of Defense has announced the successful capture of three settlements in the Kharkiv and Sumy regions. Russian forces have reportedly gained control of the settlements of Petropavlivska and Lozova in Kharkiv Oblast as part of efforts to expand a buffer zone, according to a report from Sputnik via Mehr News Agency.
The ministry further stated that operations are continuing to encircle three other settlements in northeastern Kharkiv. Russian forces also repelled two attempts by Ukrainian forces to break the blockade in the area, reportedly neutralizing a group of approximately ten individuals during these operations.
In a separate development, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported that its forces have captured the settlement of Maryinka in Sumy Oblast during offensive operations. Moscow claims that Russian forces in this region have targeted the positions and equipment of several Ukrainian brigades.
The Russian Ministry of Defense also provided figures on Ukrainian casualties and equipment losses. According to the ministry, the total casualties for Ukrainian forces across various axes in the past 24 hours have exceeded 1,300 individuals. Additionally, the ministry reported the destruction of Ukrainian military equipment and systems, including four guided bombs, two HIMARS missiles, and 1,222 drones.
