US Nearing End of Official Military Operations in Iraq

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, The United States is reportedly nearing the end of its official military operations in Iraq, a move that aligns with an agreement between Baghdad and Washington. While the formal military mission is concluding, the U.S. will maintain certain intelligence and reconnaissance capabilities within the country. Additionally, a number of U.S. Marines are expected to remain in Iraq to provide security for American diplomatic missions and facilities. The Wall Street Journal also reported that a U.S.-operated Patriot missile system deployed near Erbil has been withdrawn from Iraq. Remaining U.S. air defense systems in Iraq will primarily focus on safeguarding American diplomatic sites and personnel. The broader international coalition mission led by the United States in Iraq is scheduled to officially cease by the end of September 2026.
