US Treasury Secretary: American People Crushed by Heavy Inflation

U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent stated that the American people are suffering under the weight of inflation, while also asserting the administration’s success in isolating Iran and preventing its oil exports.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent claimed on Saturday that the United States has facilitated the passage of 1.1 billion barrels of oil through the Strait of Hormuz, while Iran was unable to export a single barrel. Bessent made these remarks in an attempt to justify the consequences of costly actions against Iran to the American public.

The Treasury Secretary, seeking to explain the numerous challenges faced by his Republican colleagues ahead of the midterm congressional elections, asserted that for the first time since Iran began exporting oil, the country will have no oil exports this week. He claimed the U.S. is isolating Iran at an unprecedented level.

Speaking to Axios, Scott Bessent further commented on the administration’s approach, stating, “What we will not do is tell the American people how good their situation is, as the Biden administration did.” He added, “I understand; sometimes I feel like an ER doctor. The American people are crushed by the heavy wheels of inflation.”
