North Korea Conducts Strategic Missile Test, Demonstrates Deterrent Capability

North Korea announced the successful test-firing of a strategic missile from its eastern coast, which traveled 1,000 kilometers into the sea, emphasizing its goal to train strategic weapon operators and bolster military deterrence.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, North Korea‘s state media reported on Sunday that the country successfully launched a strategic missile from its eastern region, hitting a target 1,000 kilometers offshore. The official Korean Central News Agency stated that the test aimed to train operators of supersonic strategic weapons and assess the nation’s military deterrence power. The launch of this intermediate-range strategic missile was reportedly overseen by North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

This latest missile test follows an announcement by Kim Yo Jong, sister of the North Korean leader, who stated the previous day that North Korea had launched a missile and that South Korea and Japan had failed to track its trajectory. On Saturday, Yonhap News Agency of South Korea had also reported that North Korea fired an unidentified projectile towards the East Sea.
