Trump Misidentifies Brazil Election as India’s in Social Media Gaffe

U.S. President Donald Trump mistakenly referred to Brazil’s presidential election as India’s on social media, claiming 125 million votes were cast in the initial round of the ‘Indian presidential election’ and results were declared immediately after polling closed.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, U.S. President Donald Trump mistakenly identified Brazil’s presidential election as India’s in a post on the Truth Social social media platform. Trump claimed that 125 million people voted in the first round of the “Indian presidential election,” with results announced immediately after the polls closed.

Trump then contrasted this assertion with the vote counting process in the United States, alleging that in cities and states like Detroit, Philadelphia, and California, the announcement of results sometimes takes weeks despite a lower number of votes. He concluded by labeling the U.S. voting system as “corrupt.” In his post, he initially wrote the word “manipulation” before correcting it to “calculation.”

However, the election Trump referenced had actually taken place in Brazil. Approximately 125 million votes were cast in the first round of the Brazilian presidential election, which saw Jair Bolsonaro and Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva advance to a runoff.
