Kyiv Under Russian Missile Barrage as Air Raid Sirens Sound in Capital and Dnipro

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, a new surge of Russian assaults targeting Ukraine‘s capital has been reported, according to information published by the Mehr News Agency.
Reports indicate that ballistic missiles launched by Russia towards targets in Kyiv have caused air raid sirens to blare throughout the city, with explosions also reported in the city of Dnipro.
Vitali Klitschko, the mayor of Kyiv, confirmed these reports, stating that the air defense systems of Ukraine’s capital have been activated to counter the significant threats. He noted a fire in the Holosiivskyi district following an explosion and emphasized that rescue teams have been dispatched to the Darnystkyi district to manage the situation.
Initial data suggests that at least seven ballistic missiles targeted the Ukrainian capital. In light of these developments, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had previously stated on the social media platform X that Ukrainian forces are fully prepared for a potential large-scale Russian offensive, having received new intelligence regarding Russia’s plans. Zelenskyy highlighted the implementation of high-priority logistical programs, affirming, “Ukraine is preparing to counter a possible and extensive Russian attack and we have focused on supplementary solutions for supplying equipment and ammunition.”
He further added that the Ukrainian government, in collaboration with local entities, has devised special plans to ensure the provision of essential goods and equipment in response to Russian attacks on vital infrastructure such as railway lines, bridges, roads, and warehouses.
Tensions between Moscow and Kyiv escalated into a full-scale military confrontation in February 2022, following Russian President Vladimir Putin’s recognition of the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics, an event referred to as Russia’s “special operation” which continues to this day.
