Kremlin Confirms Upcoming Putin-Trump Call, Discusses Potential US Envoy Visit to Moscow

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Russian presidential spokesperson Dmitry Peskov announced on Friday, October 9, that a phone call between Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump will take place soon. This announcement was reported by Sputnik, citing Mehr News Agency.
Peskov addressed the possibility of a visit to Moscow in October by Jared Kushner, Trump’s son-in-law and a senior advisor, and Steve Witcoff, a U.S. envoy. He stated that such a visit is anticipated, though it remains uncertain if it will occur within that specific timeframe.
He emphasized that Kushner and Witkoff are always welcomed in Moscow and that President Putin would welcome meeting with them. Peskov added that these two American officials are currently in discussions with the Ukrainian side in the United States, and apparently, comprehensive plans or ideas for resolving the conflict are under consideration. According to Peskov, if these matters are discussed in Miami and the American negotiators deem it necessary to share details with Moscow, Russia would welcome them.
The Kremlin spokesperson also noted that the topic of Russia’s military operations in Ukraine was not raised during Friday’s meeting with Putin’s counterparts from the Commonwealth of Independent States.
Peskov had previously stated on Thursday that there were no delays in scheduling a phone call between Putin and Trump, and that the timing would require mutual agreement.
