Riyadh Airport Attacked, Saudi Arabia Confirms Fatalities

Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation has confirmed an attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, resulting in at least 12 fatalities. The incident follows previous claims by Yemeni forces of targeting the airport.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation announced that King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh was targeted, leading to at least 12 deaths. The announcement was made based on data published by the Mehr News Agency, citing Al Jazeera.

Yesterday evening, Reuters reported from informed sources that a loud explosion was heard at Riyadh Airport. The Associated Press also reported from regional officials about a new attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia. It was also reported that King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh was evacuated and its flights were suspended.

Data from FlightRadar indicated that following the complete halt of air traffic, all flights bound for Riyadh Airport rerouted. Days earlier, the spokesperson for the Yemeni armed forces had declared, “We targeted King Khalid Airport in Riyadh with two cruise missiles, Najran Airport with one ballistic missile, and an air base in Khamis Mushait with one ballistic missile on Thursday evening.” Brigadier General Yahya Saree added, “By God’s grace, these attacks were carried out with precision and direct hits, causing disruption to air traffic at the two airports and inflicting damage upon them and the air base.” It is noteworthy that Yemen’s retaliatory attacks against Saudi Arabia are in response to bombings of the country by Saudi aggressors.
