Zelensky Reports Russian Bombardment of Kyiv and Kharkiv Following Trump’s Ceasefire Announcement

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Russia bombarded energy facilities in Kyiv and Kharkiv shortly after U.S. President Donald Trump announced a ceasefire in the energy sector. This development comes amidst reports of potential U.S. pressure on Ukraine to halt attacks on Russian energy infrastructure.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, as reported by Al Jazeera via the Mehr News Agency, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that Russia carried out bombings of energy facilities in Kyiv and Kharkiv. This action reportedly followed an announcement by U.S. President Donald Trump concerning a ceasefire in the energy sector.

Zelensky’s remarks coincide with reports from the Financial Times, citing European officials, suggesting that Washington has threatened to halt arms sales to Ukraine unless it ceases its bombardments of Russian energy facilities. The American newspaper, quoting official sources, indicated that Washington is urging European capitals to exert pressure on Kyiv to stop its attacks on Russian oil refineries.

Earlier on Sunday, U.S. President Donald Trump asserted that Russia and Ukraine had agreed to a ceasefire concerning attacks on energy facilities, with the truce taking effect immediately. The U.S. President had previously criticized Ukraine’s assaults on Russian refineries and called for their cessation.
