Israeli Opposition Leader Claims No War With Iran Expected Before Elections

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Yair Lapid, the leader of the Israeli opposition, has claimed that available security data does not indicate an impending war with Iran before the parliamentary elections scheduled for October 27th. He further alleged that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is leveraging the potential for conflict for electoral advantage.
Speaking on local radio station “103 FM” on Monday, Lapid criticized Netanyahu’s handling of security threats, suggesting that the Prime Minister could manipulate the political and media landscape by issuing warnings about imminent terrorist attacks or a war with Iran. Lapid questioned whether such tactics serve Israel’s best interests, urging voters to consider this aspect.
Lapid, who as opposition leader is privy to significant security and military developments, asserted that the information at his disposal does not point towards Israel engaging in a war with Iran prior to the elections. These remarks come in the wake of Netanyahu convening a security meeting on Sunday evening concerning developments related to Iran. Notably, on September 29th, Netanyahu had warned that Israel’s adversaries might launch attacks before the elections, a statement that Lapid previously dismissed as an attempt to instill fear for political purposes.
