EU Foreign Policy Chief Kaja Kallas Pledges Use of Frozen Russian Assets to Fund Ukraine

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Kaja Kallas, the European Union’s foreign policy chief, announced on Monday that now is not the time to ease pressure on Moscow. She revealed that the EU has implemented a new sanctions package against Russia, the largest since the commencement of the Ukraine war.
Kallas elaborated that applying pressure on Moscow is the quickest path to ending the war, rather than making concessions. She emphasized the need to utilize all available tools to exert pressure on Russia, including imposing further sanctions, as there are no indications that Russia is seeking a resolution to its conflict with Ukraine.
The EU’s top diplomat further stated that the bloc will utilize frozen Russian assets and is exploring various mechanisms to provide financial support to Ukraine. Additionally, Kallas mentioned that EU foreign ministers have agreed to a two-year extension of the advisory mission in Iraq. The EU also continues its support for the International Criminal Court, following sanctions announced by the United States against the court.
