Russian Senator: Sanctions Easing Signals Policy Failure, Boosts National Revenue

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Russia‘s Federation Council International Affairs Committee Deputy Chair, Elena Perminova, has stated that the agreement between Moscow and Washington regarding diesel fuel supplies demonstrates the dominance of economic realities and energy security over sanctions policy. She made these remarks in an interview with RIA Novosti, as reported by Mehr News Agency.
Perminova emphasized that lifting sanctions on Russian diesel fuel could lead to increased revenues for the country. She explained that expanding oil product exports offers Russia the opportunity to gain billions of dollars in additional income. These resources, she noted, can be utilized for domestic investment, infrastructure modernization, and supporting local enterprises.
The Russian official criticized the approach of European officials, pointing out that the agreement between Moscow and Washington was reached without Brussels’ participation and does not align with the interests of European authorities. She stated that European elites have harmed their own industries and deprived their citizens of access to affordable energy resources over the past years by imposing sanctions packages.
Perminova concluded by observing that Europeans are now witnessing with surprise as key players are forging a pragmatic and beneficial dialogue without their involvement. She described this as a difficult geopolitical lesson for Europeans who have lost their remaining economic sovereignty.
