Iran Adopts New Tactics for Maritime Violations in Strait of Hormuz

Iran has implemented new methodologies to manage maritime traffic and penalize vessels violating regulations in the Strait of Hormuz, signaling a shift in its enforcement strategies over the past ten days. These updated tactics are designed to alter the nature and intensity of responses to transgressions within the critical waterway.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Iran is employing novel methods to assert control in the Strait of Hormuz and discipline ships that contravene its directives. These new procedures have been in effect for the past ten days against vessels deviating from routes designated by the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Senior Iranian officials have emphasized that the revised strategy involves altering the types of actions taken and their severity. This move comes as the United States and its allies reportedly seek to lower global oil prices in anticipation of midterm elections. A key objective of Iran’s adjusted strategy, however, is to maintain elevated oil prices. This decision has been made with full coordination among the nation’s leadership.

Recently, the Public Relations department of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy announced that a shuttle tanker carrying 750,000 barrels of crude oil attempted to pass through a prohibited route, disregarding warnings and alerts from the IRGC Navy. The vessel subsequently struck a naval mine, resulting in a severe explosion and fire.
