Trump Renews Call to Rename Somaliland, Citing Distinct Identity

President Donald Trump has again called for a name change for Somaliland, asserting it is a distinct entity separate from Somalia, during a campaign rally in Ohio. This comes despite no international recognition for the region’s separatist aspirations.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, President Donald Trump, speaking at an election rally in Ohio, claimed that Somaliland is an entirely different country from Somalia and its name should be changed immediately. This assertion was made in the context of Trump discussing Somali immigrants in the United States, particularly in Minnesota.

Trump stated, “They raise your taxes so that foreign thieves can plunder the state’s budget and roam in what I call the land of Somalia, not Somaliland, because it is in fact a completely different country.”

It is important to note that no country has yet recognized the separatists of Somaliland, and the region is not officially considered a separate nation. The separatist movement in Somaliland, unrecognized by any government, is actively seeking to strengthen ties with the Israeli regime.

Previously, the U.S. President had called for renaming numerous geographical locations, including straits, lakes, and oceans, and even had some named after himself.
