Tanker Struck by Projectile Off Saudi Coast

A commercial tanker sustained a direct hit from an unidentified projectile approximately 68 nautical miles northeast of Jubail, Saudi Arabia, according to maritime trade reports. The incident occurred on Friday amid ongoing maritime security concerns in the region.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) reported that a tanker was struck by an unknown projectile on Friday. The incident took place 68 nautical miles northeast of Jubail, Saudi Arabia. Further details regarding the incident have not yet been released.

This event follows a recent announcement by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy, which detailed a significant explosion on a supertanker after it collided with a naval mine in the Strait of Hormuz. According to the IRGC statement, the supertanker, carrying over two million barrels of crude oil, was attempting to traverse an unauthorized route in the Strait of Hormuz when it struck a mine, resulting in a severe explosion and fire. The tanker had reportedly deactivated all its positioning and radar systems, attempting to pass through the Strait of Hormuz by deceiving and with the support of what the IRGC described as the “smuggling and terrorist American army.” The IRGC Navy reiterated that the Strait of Hormuz is closed and warned that vessels violating Iranian regulations for the strait would face consequences, metaphorically described as burning in the “fire of confidence of the terrorist American army.”
