Yemen Parliament Speaker Warns Egypt Against Saudi Military Involvement

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, concerns have been raised by the Speaker of Yemen‘s Parliament regarding Egypt’s potential involvement in military movements within Yemen. In a letter addressed to his Egyptian counterpart, the speaker expressed significant apprehension over Cairo’s possible engagement in the conflict.
The Yemeni official emphasized a strong opposition to Egypt, a nation with a rich history and Arab identity, being drawn into a conflict that he believes is inconsistent with the country’s fundamental values. He cautioned that any such misstep by Egypt could pose a serious threat to its national security and domestic stability.
The speaker highlighted that Saudi Arabia initiated the war and blockade against Yemen over 12 years ago. He further noted that Riyadh has evaded implementing the agreed-upon roadmap for Yemen and has escalated tensions by attacking Sana’a airport, thereby ending a period of de-escalation.
Concluding his message, the Speaker of the Sana’a Parliament expressed hope that Egypt would leverage its historical role in supporting the oppressed to adopt a courageous stance. He urged Egypt to avoid aligning with Saudi Arabia in the ongoing developments in Yemen.
This correspondence comes at a critical juncture, as the Egyptian Parliament is scheduled to hold an urgent session on Sunday to discuss the nation’s potential accession to the Saudi-led coalition’s campaign in Yemen.
