US Alleges Increased Secret Russian Operations Within NATO States

The United States has accused Russia of significantly escalating clandestine sabotage operations across NATO member countries, according to reports citing U.S. intelligence sources. These alleged actions aim to disrupt European support for Ukraine and sow instability.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, citing data published by Mehr News Agency, The Wall Street Journal, quoting U.S. intelligence sources, has claimed that Vladimir Putin, the President of Russia, has ordered a widespread intensification of covert sabotage operations within the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) member states.

The report suggests that this campaign commenced in August with an unsuccessful drone attack attempt on Leipzig Airport in Germany and has since expanded to target suppliers of military equipment, communication infrastructure, and commercial shipping.

The Wall Street Journal alleged that Russia’s military intelligence organization is coordinating these operations, with the stated objectives of hindering European support for Ukraine and propagating instability within European nations.

This report emerges amid growing European concerns in recent months regarding what they describe as Russian-attributed sabotage activities and hybrid threats.

In August 2026, a drone carrying explosives was discovered near a Ukrainian cargo plane at Leipzig Airport in Germany. U.S. intelligence officials raised the possibility of Russian involvement in this drone incident, though Moscow has refuted allegations of interference.

The Russian government has stated that the objective behind the release of these media reports is to foster Russophobia and pave the way for further sanctions and pressure against Moscow.
