Russia Warns of Retaliatory Measures Over Japan-U.S. Drills

Moscow has indicated it will take compensatory actions to bolster its defenses in response to joint Japan-U.S. military exercises and the deployment of offensive missile systems in Japan, citing increased risks to Russia’s Far East borders.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, …

Russia‘s Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Maria Zakharova, announced on Wednesday that Moscow will be compelled to implement compensatory measures to enhance its defensive capabilities. This decision stems from joint exercises conducted by Japan and the United States, codenamed “Sharp Sword,” during which Type-25 offensive missile systems were deployed on Japanese territory.

Zakharova elaborated that such actions escalate the risks to the security of Russia’s Far East borders. She previously stated that Moscow’s stance was adopted in reaction to the Japanese company Terra Drone’s announcement last week regarding the delivery of a shipment of drones to Ukraine. Russia dismissed Japanese officials’ attempts to justify this action by claiming Terra Drone’s cooperation with the Ukrainian military was merely a private initiative, deeming it unconvincing.

The spokesperson explicitly declared that hostile actions against Russia would not go unanswered and would be met with a decisive reaction, including measures that Tokyo would feel the effects of in relevant sectors.
