US Senator Claims Pentagon Hiding War Costs Against Iran

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, US Senator Chris Murphy, a Democrat, has stated that Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth is attempting to obscure the expenses and repercussions of a war against Iran from public and congressional scrutiny. Murphy made these assertions after returning from diplomatic engagements in Qatar and Saudi Arabia.
The senator highlighted a recent Iranian drone attack on the US embassy in Riyadh on March 3, which he stated resulted in significant damage to several floors and sections, rendering them unusable. Murphy countered official accounts of minor damage, emphasizing that had the attack occurred during daylight hours, it could have led to numerous employee fatalities.
Previously, Murphy had also reported that the US Department of Defense obstructed his access to a crucial American military base in Qatar during his tour of West Asia. He characterized this denial as part of the US administration’s broader strategy to conceal the potential fallout from a conflict with Iran.
Reuters reported that Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American facility in the region, has been repeatedly targeted by Iranian forces during the conflict initiated by the United States and Israel in February.
