Iraq PM Stresses Open Borders with Iran for Economic Benefit

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaidi has stated that closing the borders with Iran would not serve the interests of either Iraq or Iran. He emphasized that such a move would amount to imposing an economic blockade on Iraq itself.
Al-Zaidi reiterated Iraq’s commitment to not participating in any wars, positioning the nation as a persistent hub for dialogue and convergence between different parties. He also noted that despite various regional scenarios and possibilities, any emerging crisis must ultimately be resolved through agreement.
In further remarks, the Iraqi Prime Minister claimed that the process of handing over weapons has been completed with three groups, and negotiations are underway with four additional groups to finalize the matter. He stated unequivocally that by June 30, 2027, no weapons will remain outside the government’s control, describing the state’s monopoly on arms as a final and irreversible decision.
Al-Zaidi also asserted that no American military personnel, not even as military advisors, are currently present in Iraq.
