US Embassy Staff Levels Reduced in Five Middle Eastern Nations Amid Security Concerns

The U.S. State Department announced a reduction in diplomatic and government personnel across several embassies in the Middle East, citing unspecified warnings regarding Tehran’s alleged plans to target Americans.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the U.S. Department of State has confirmed a reduction in its political and governmental staff at multiple embassies in the Middle East. This decision, framed by the U.S. as a response to alleged intelligence indicating Tehran’s intentions to target Americans, is part of Washington’s ongoing policy towards Iran.

U.S. officials specified that personnel have been reduced at American embassies in the United Arab Emirates, Lebanon, and Jordan, with only essential staff remaining in place. American authorities also expressed concern over the potential escalation of attacks by Yemeni armed forces.

CBS News reported that the State Department has decreased its employee numbers in Jordan, Lebanon, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates, in addition to Saudi Arabia. The network further cited the State Department in confirming that these embassies will remain operational, with the adjustments affecting only the active personnel within their facilities.
