Cuba Rejects U.S. Hegemonic Ambitions Amidst Trump’s Threats

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez unequivocally declared on Saturday that his nation rejects any threats stemming from American ambitions towards Cuba. Responding to recent statements by U.S. President Donald Trump via the social media platform X, Rodríguez stated, “We do not accept any threats arising from American ambitions towards Cuba. We have beautiful beaches, but they have sharp reefs that do not welcome those who enter with hostile intentions and a desire for dominance.”
This strong rebuttal comes after President Trump issued a threatening statement on Friday night, saying, “Don’t worry about Cuba; on the way back from Iran, we will settle accounts with Cuba as well.” The Trump administration had previously declared its objective to change the communist government in Cuba.
Cuba is currently facing a severe fuel shortage and widespread power outages as a consequence of the Trump administration’s pressures and oil blockade. Washington has maintained sanctions against Cuba for over 60 years and has intensified pressure on Havana, alongside its escalated measures against Venezuela. Despite these challenges, Cuba’s Foreign Minister had emphasized last month at the United Nations General Assembly that the country remains open to dialogue with Washington.
