Russia Unveils Anti-Drone Dome Concept at Russia-Africa Summit

Rosoboronexport, a subsidiary of Rostec, is set to debut its ‘Anti-Drone Dome’ defense concept for the first time at the upcoming Russia-Africa Summit in Moscow, designed to protect critical infrastructure and personnel from drone attacks.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Rosoboronexport, a subsidiary of the state-owned Rostec Corporation, has announced the inaugural presentation of its ‘Anti-Drone Dome’ defense concept at the third Russia-Africa Summit. This initiative aims to provide comprehensive protection against unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) threats.

The summit is scheduled to take place on October 28 and 29, 2026 (Aban 6 and 7, 1405) at the Gostiny Dvor exhibition center in Moscow. Rosoboronexport stated that the ‘Anti-Drone Dome’ concept is engineered to safeguard populations, military forces, and strategic installations and infrastructure from drone assaults. Its applications include the protection of bridges, buildings, fuel and energy facilities, and military deployment sites.

The concept also incorporates protective solutions for transportation convoys and vehicles carrying specially protected individuals or sensitive cargo. Rosoboronexport highlighted that this project was developed in collaboration with Russian manufacturers of anti-drone equipment and representatives from specialized security agencies, drawing upon practical experience gained from military and counter-terrorism operations involving drones in recent years.

The ‘Anti-Drone Dome’ is described as a multi-layered system encompassing airspace monitoring and identification equipment, drone neutralization systems, electronic warfare tools to disrupt drone operations, a geographic information system integrated with an automated command and control structure, and physical protection assets. During the summit, Rosoboronexport will not only present the overall ‘Anti-Drone Dome’ concept but also offer a selection of proposed equipment and systems for establishing this defensive network to foreign delegations.

Among the showcased equipment are the ‘Pantsir-SMD-E’ and ‘Pantsir-S1M’ air defense systems, the ‘Verba’ man-portable air-defense missile system, the ‘TK-B-1167’ counter-air target system, and the ‘Citadel’ anti-aircraft artillery system equipped with pre-programmed fragmentation (PPF) munitions. The company also indicated that mass-produced laser systems and electromagnetic pulse (EMP) based systems are slated for inclusion in the anti-drone arsenal. At the time of this announcement, EMP systems were in the final stages of testing.

Additionally, reconnaissance and electronic warfare equipment designed to disrupt drone control and navigation channels, including the ‘Silok’, ‘Repellent-Patrol’, ‘SkyHunter 4PC’ systems, and the anti-drone variant of ‘Radsakan’, are listed among the available offerings. Rosoboronexport emphasized that the composition and capabilities of the ‘Anti-Drone Dome’ are tailored to the specific needs of each customer and the characteristics of the area to be protected, with all components designed and manufactured in Russia.
