Kaja Kallas Criticizes Sergei Lavrov Over Ukraine Narratives at G20 Summit

European Union Foreign Policy Chief Kaja Kallas has accused Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov of promoting false narratives regarding the Ukraine conflict during discussions at the G20 summit.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, European Union Foreign Policy Chief Kaja Kallas has publicly criticized Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, alleging that he presented inaccurate accounts of the situation in Ukraine during high-level G20 talks.

Speaking to Agence France-Presse, Kallas detailed that ongoing deliberations concerning major geopolitical crises, notably the conflict in Ukraine, provided an opportunity to directly challenge Lavrov on Moscow’s positions and statements.

The senior EU official asserted that numerous misleading claims were put forward during the gathering, though European representatives were swift to counter these assertions and reject the stated narratives on the spot.

Furthermore, Kallas expressed skepticism regarding Moscow’s professed readiness for diplomatic engagement, emphasizing that Russia’s practical actions and military approach directly contradict its publicly declared willingness to negotiate.

Concluding her remarks, she underscored the necessity of maintaining sustained international pressure on Moscow, particularly with the objective of securing a ceasefire in the Black Sea region. Kallas also reaffirmed that European governments remain firmly committed to preventing the diplomatic normalization of Russia’s presence in international forums.
