Iraq Border Command Details Comprehensive Security Measures Along Turkish, Syrian, and Iranian Borders

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Haider Al-Karkhi, Director of Information for the Border Forces Command, has provided a comprehensive overview of the current security situation and military enhancements along Iraq’s international borders with Turkey, Syria, and Iran.
Detailing the measures implemented along the Syrian frontier, Al-Karkhi noted that extensive engineering efforts have been completed to secure the border. These defensive fortifications include the construction of concrete walls spanning 400 kilometers, the excavation of deep trenches, the installation of barbed wire, the erection of observation towers, and the deployment of advanced thermal imaging cameras. He emphasized that these upgrades have effectively eliminated gaps along the strip, allowing round-the-clock intelligent surveillance to thwart potential infiltrations by armed militants and smugglers.
Regarding the northern border with Turkey in the Dohuk Governorate, the military official stated that sectors under the control of the border guards have undergone major structural and tactical improvements. These advancements were achieved by reinforcing remote outposts and securing critical access points within rugged, mountainous terrain.
Turning to the eastern frontier, Al-Karkhi explained that border guards are successfully executing their mandates across the Erbil and Sulaymaniyah governorates, with troop presence significantly strengthened in several key sectors. He highlighted that heightened security protocols surrounding positions associated with anti-Iran opposition factions, coupled with strategic force redeployments, have played a vital role in consolidating state sovereignty and maintaining border stability, despite the challenging mountainous topography.
Concluding his remarks, the Iraqi Border Command spokesperson stressed that the combination of permanent troop presence and cutting-edge technical controls has successfully solidified state authority along all borderline sectors, severely restricting illegal activities and cross-border smuggling. Furthermore, he noted that ongoing bilateral security agreements and joint coordination centers continue to provide an optimal framework for resolving mutual border challenges.
