US Ambassador Comments on Netanyahu Future and Israeli Government Formation

US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee stated that Benjamin Netanyahu will remain Prime Minister until a new cabinet is formed, a process expected to take at least 42 days or potentially longer.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee declared in a recent statement that Benjamin Netanyahu will continue to serve as Prime Minister until a new cabinet is established. He noted that this transition is unlikely to occur for at least another 42 days, and the timeframe could extend significantly.

The senior American diplomat further expressed his perspective that any immediate transfer of power is improbable.

Previously, Channel 14 of the Israeli television network, citing informed sources, reported that the Israeli Prime Minister has decided based on current assessments to halt efforts toward forming a new government and instead pursue the path toward early elections.

According to that report, the approach adopted by Netanyahu involves abandoning the concept of a so-called national unity government, as well as dropping plans to establish a cabinet that includes Avigdor Lieberman and Naftali Bennett.

The report added that the Israeli Prime Minister reached this decision after confirming that Gadi Eisenkot would refuse to join a national unity administration.
