Clashes Erupt Between Protesters and Police in Albanian Capital Over Government Policies

Demonstrations outside the office of Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama in Tirana turned violent as protesters threw petrol bombs and police responded with water cannons. The unrest stems from growing public discontent over government policies and a controversial development project linked to the Trump family.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, protests staged by Albanian citizens near the office of Prime Minister Edi Rama in the capital city of Tirana escalated into violent clashes. Rally participants gathered in the area to demand Rama’s resignation, hurling Molotov cocktails at law enforcement officers.

In response, security forces deployed water cannons and other equipment to disperse the protesting crowd. Over recent days, two separate demonstrations have been organized in the Albanian capital by student associations and the opposition Democratic Party, as the country experiences widespread unrest over government policies in recent weeks.

Representatives of student groups announced that they will stage such demonstrations twice a week. The roots of the ongoing protests in the country trace back to a controversial project linked to the Trump family on the Albanian coast, which has progressively fueled public opposition to government performance across various sectors.
